Living Dead in Dallas (5/5)

Living Dead in Dallas (5/5)

This is the second book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. Sookie heads to Dallas with Bill and Eric to use her telepathic powers to help out some vampires. As usual, trouble happens. I am beginning to be a fan more of Eric than Bill. I really like this series.

The Lit Report (YA) (5/5)

The Lit Report (YA) 5/5

Julia's best friend Ruth gets pregnant. Julia is a great list-maker and decides that she will walk Ruth through her pregnancy, make sure it stays hidden from her overly religious parents, deliver the baby and then leave it at the church of Ruth's parents. Of course sometimes the best laid plans don't happen. Julia, Ruth and the supporting characters of Julia's parents, Miki and Jonah are great. Readers will care about these characters. I enjoyed the literary references throughout the book. I could definitely relate to Julia.

Living Dead Girl (YA) (5/5)

Living Dead Girl (YA) (5/5)

This is a totally creepy book. Ray kidnapped a 10 year old and renamed her Alice. He rapes her, beats her and keeps her under lock and key. The last "Alice" was "freed" when she turned 15. This "Alice" is turning that age but Ray decides he wants her to help him get another little girl that they can raise together. This guy is a psychopath. This book is horrifying to read but you can't put it down.

Perfect Fifths (4/5)

Perfect Fifths (4/5)

The fifth book in the Jessica Darling story continues the saga of Jessica and her relationship with Marcus Flutie. This one wasn't as good as the others in the series. Jessica and Marcus see each other for the first time in years in an airport and begin to catch each other up on their lives. Good chemistry still between the two of them.

The Trouble with Demons (4/5)

The Trouble with Demons (4/5)

Raine is an elf and the keeper of this powerful stone. There is a huge battle going on between good and evil and wanting possession of this stone. There are demons, wizards, dark magic, white magic and pirates in this book. This book has a lot of action, some romance and good twists and turns.

Summer on Blossom Street (5/5)

Summer on Blossom Street (5/5)

I love this series--it is like visiting old friends by reading each new book. This book continues stories of the old Blossom Street crew and introduce the new stories of new characters. These books are comfort reads--you know that there will be conflicts but things will end nicely. I enjoy this series--it's one of my favorites.

The Magician (YA) (4.5/5)

The Magician (YA) (4.5/5)

This is the second in a series and is as action packed as the first one. Sophie and Josh are twins who are deemed to be "the ones" to have powerful auras. Nicholas Flamel, an immortal, needs their help to save his kidnapped wife. There are great figures in this series--magicians, vampires, monsters, Joan of Arc etc. This book will keep readers enthralled with the action, the twists and the turns. #3 comes out later this month and I will read it. I enjoy this series and I am not usually much of a fantasy fans. Both girls and boys will like this book and it is appropriate for MS and HS students.

Murder Uncorked (4.5/5)

Murder Uncorked (4.5/5)

This is the first in a cozy mystery series. Nikki Sands heads to Napa Valley to check out a job offer at a winery. Shortly after her arrival she finds a dead body. Nikki's inner Nancy Drew comes out and she begins to investigate the murder. This is partly due to her attraction to her possible new boss, Derek. This book has good twists and turns. I enjoyed it. I will continue this series.

Blood Blade (4/5)

Blood Blade (4/5)

This book is full of paranormal figures--vampires, werewolves, shape shifters and vampire slayers. Tons of action in this book kept me entertained. Paige, a Skinner or vampire slayer, was a kick-ass heroine. She reminded me of Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This was the first in a series--I would read more.
